By Aaron Humes: The Belize City Council continues to upgrade its heavy equipment fleet with a garbage compactor truck donated by the Government and people of Japan.
Mayor Bernard Wagner said that the City continues to move toward a cleaner city in cooperation with residents and private sector players.
One of two compactor trucks with a total value of US$269 thousand between them was handed over by Japanese Ambassador Nobuyuki Shirakata, with the other to come in a few months.
The Ambassador said he hoped that garbage collection and improvements in sanitation, health and the environment result from this augmentation of the municipal fleet.
