Police investigating sighting of missing teenager Nelly Maria Diaz, 14, in Melchor

By Aaron Humes: While according to Commissioner of Police Chester Williams authorities still believe 14-year-old Nelly Maria Diaz is in Belize, they are working with their Guatemalan counterparts to investigate a reported sighting in Melchor de Mencos, Peten.

That is some distance from Diaz’s home of Santa Cruz, Stann Creek District. She was last seen leaving home on Saturday and vanished into thin air.

She was last seen wearing long blue pants, a black blouse, and red tennis shoes.

Anyone with knowledge of Nelly’s location is urged to call 655-2423, 911, 922, or the nearest police station.
