Ministry of Agriculture promotes South American Nacedero tree as nutritional fodder for livestock

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: In search for better fodder for livestock, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise, is promoting the South American Nacedero tree as nutritional fodder for livestock.

“As a cornerstone of the “Genetic Improvement in Sheep and Goat Project,” Nacedero is set to transform how farmers elevate their livestock’s nutrition,” MAFSE said in a statement on the Nacedro tree it posted on social media.

“From pigs to sheep and other ruminants, Nacedero serves as a top-tier fodder source, ensuring your livestock receives the essential nutrition they crave.”

According to MAFSE, the Nacedero tree, scientifically known as Trichanthera gigantea, is a versatile and robust plant that has become a valuable asset in agricultural practices, particularly in the enhancement of livestock nutrition.

The Nacedero’s resilience in various environmental conditions, including acidic and infertile soils, makes it an excellent choice for sustainable farming.

The tree’s ability to grow from stem cuttings simplifies propagation, and its high crude protein content is beneficial for feeding a range of farm animals.
