PUP announces Conventions; “The ComeBack” signals return of political giant Daniel Silva

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The People’s United Party (PUP) has officially announced that applications are open for those wishing to represent the PUP as standard bearer in the 2025 general elections.

With the exception of Toledo East, all constituencies are up for grabs.

In Cayo Central, the political climate is heating up as supporters of Former Government Minister Daniel Silva with the hashtag #TheComeBack has signaled his return.

Silva’s track record includes issuance of thousands of house lots, low-income housing for the residents of that constituency, the development and expansions of primary and high schools and the expansion of the production of new crops including onion, potato, carrots, celery and cauliflower among many others.

Recently, Cayo Central Area Representative Alex Balona was appointed Minister of State in the Ministry of Agriculture providing for a comfy bump in salary.

Despite having received the Community Development Fund, residents are clamoring to experience concrete evidence of projects or developments in the constituency.

With the return of Silva and perhaps other contenders, the PUP would then host a contested convention in the constituency for residents to elect a standard bearer for the 2025 General elections.
