PM Barrow constituency registered the highest voter turnout while Southern Belize saw low turnout

By BBN Staff: Today, Belizeans went to the polls to cast their vote in Belize’s historic national referendum on whether or not to take Guatemala’s claim on Belize’s territory to the International Court of Justice for final settlement.

Statistics from the Elections and Boundaries department demonstrate that the Queens Square division, currently being represented by Prime Minister Dean Barrow, had the highest voter turnout of 84.1%.

Overall the Belize district also saw the highest overall voter turnout at 69.3%.

Meanwhile Toledo East saw the lowest low voter turnout of 57.5% and overall the Toledo district had a very low 57.9% voter turnout.

Below is the results issued by Elections and Boundaries:

Corozal District: 61.74%

Orange Walk district: 67.03%

Belize district: 69.28%

Cayo district 63.41%

Stann Creek district : 62.04%

Toledo district: 57.89%

The ballots are still being counted in each respective constituency.

The official results will be issued by Chief Elections Officer, Josephine Tamai in Belize City.
