AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines expire end of May; Have you received yours yet?

By BBN Staff: The Ministry of Health and Wellness vaccination campaign continues countrywide.

The public is urged to get vaccinated to protect themselves and their loved ones.

During an interview with our colleagues at Channel 5, Maternal and Child Health technical advisor, Dr. Natalia Beer said that the vaccines in the country will expire end of May but there is enough time to administer the doses to those included in the phases.

“So we have enough time to get those vaccines in arms and we are confident that this week we have seen a low but a lot is ongoing on our side, the supplies side, and I guess it is influencing the demand side also,” Dr. Beer said.

In addition, Dr. Beer noted that the ministry is working on increasing the deployment of vaccines to rural communities to facilitate the population to have access to the vaccines.

The next amount of COVID-19 vaccines through COVAX is expected to arrive in-country by the end of May.
