Man charged with threatening to burn down house is remanded to prison after failing to meet bail

By BBN Staff: A Belize City man is on remand at the Belize Central Prison after failing to meet bail for his charge of ‘threat of damage to property.’

Curtis Campbell, 31, sought guidance from the court as to how he should plea and was told that to enter a guilty plea he would have to accept the report made by Danika Meighan that he told her he would burn down her one-bedroom home.

Campbell said that he did not accept those facts and pleaded not guilty, and was granted bail in the sum of $3,000 plus one surety of the same amount.

He will remain on remand until October 22, his next scheduled court appearance.
