Belize’s Derrick Chavarria wins gold in Caribbean Junior Road Cycling Championship

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize’s Derrick Chavarria won the gold medal in the 56.25 (90 Kms) Road Race riding in solo at the Caribbean Junior Cycling Championship in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, today Sunday.

Two Dominican Republic riders got the silver and bronze medals.

On Saturday, Gabrielle Gabourel finished in 3rd place winning the bronze medal in the 6.25 miles (10 Kms) Women’s Youth Category Individual Time Trial (ITT).

On Saturday as well, Chavarria, who rides locally for 501 Valvoline Cycling Team, finished 6th in the 12.5 miles (20 Kms) Men’s Junior ITT. Goran Gabourel was 10th.

Tyler Tejeda was 6th in the 6.25 miles (10 Kms) Men’s Youth ITT.
