Police detain a suspect in San Pedro murder investigation

By BBN Staff: Police have reportedly detained a man in connection with a fatal shooting on San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, last night.

According to the department, the suspect, who has not yet been charged with any offense, was detained following the shooting death of 35-year-old Hilberto Sajid Caliz.

Police say they responded to a call in the San Pedrito Area where they found Caliz with several gunshot wounds to the body.

Initial investigations reveal that he was coming home from work shortly after 5:00 p.m. when he was chased by a Hispanic man who fired several shots at him, killing him on the spot.

Investigations into the matter continue.
