BTB is the real winner for Simone Biles vacation offer

By BBN Staff: The Belize Tourism Board (BTB) and Belize as a destination, more specifically, has been gaining plenty of international attention since it offered a five-day all expenses paid vacation to Olympian Simone Biles and her teammates.

Biles retweeted BTB’s offer and since then the offer has gotten a lot of attention internationally and locally.

George Fiddler, creative director at Olson Engage, who does work for BTB on its social media platforms told PRWeek that “It’s part of what we call our right-time engagement strategy. We look for these moments in pop culture that feel appropriate for Belize to react to. There have been quite a few of these moments to occur in the last few years.”

Over the past year the BTB has also extended vacation offers to the cast of Breaking Bad, Steve Harvey and DJ Khaled.

If the team takes up the offer the BTB is willing to work with them no matter what they choose to do there, he said.

“We would want them to have their privacy and we would only make a big deal again if they were comfortable,” Fiddler said. “But if they wanted to do something gymnastics related while on vacation, like doing backflips on the beach, it would be awesome to see that kind of thing shared on Snapchat, Instagram, and their social media channels.”
