NEMO trains public officers in Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis

By BBN Staff: Yesterday, a number of public officers from various departments, who are stationed mainly in Belmopan, Cayo District and Orange Walk District, participated in a training workshop on Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis (DANA) conducted by the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) at NEMO headquarters in Belmopan.

The training covered sub-topics such as, how to conduct efficient and quality assessments in disaster management situations so that relief can be provided in a timely manner and fair order of priority; differentiating four basic levels (or categories) of flood and hurricane damage; reviewing assessment forms; and understanding how the assessments are used.

Main facilitator for the training was NEMO Belize District Coordinator, Timrose Augustine, who has extensive experience in disaster management.

Coordinator for the workshop was NEMO Training Officer Reniece Ogaldez. Also present was NEMO Belmopan Coordinator Clare Moody.

The workshop was part of NEMO’s overall training plan to thoroughly prepare persons who serve various functions in National Emergency and Disaster Management.
