Case against Castro’s son dismissed

Posted: Tuesday, January 30, 2018. 9:30 am CST.

BBN Staff: In August 2017, Jafari Castro was charged along with James Young Jr., 21, and Gilbert Franklin Jr., 18, for harm.

The trio were accused of severely beating Camalote resident, Kevin Brown, 21.

Charges were brought against the trio after intensive media reporting of the incident.

Yesterday, the case was called up before Senior Magistrate, Aretha Ford.

A report from 7 News indicates that the complainant, Brown, did not show up for the case.

Therefore, the case was dismissed and the men were set free.

Police had initially reported that on August 6, 2017, Brown was at a hotel in San Pedro and got into a fight with the trio. Brown was allegedly kicked and knocked out.

He was airlifted from San Pedro town and taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for medical treatment.
