One charged for illegal weapon found in house search

By BBN Staff: A Dangriga man, Derrick Ramirez, 25, has been arrested after a police search at his home in Belize city on Ordonez street around 5:50 p.m. yesterday led to the discovery of a 12-gauge single action shot gun and three 12-gauge cartridges.

The serial number of the shotgun, however, had been filed off. The evidence sealed, labeled and deposited to the exhibit keeper.

The weapon and ammunition were found in a bedroom in the house. Ramirez is in police custody pending charges.
