Belize Bank issues scholarships

BBN Staff: Today the Belize Bank distributed scholarships to 20 students at a ceremony held at the Radisson Fort George Hotel and Marina.

The bank issued scholarships to 10 high-school students and 10 junior college students, during the seventh disbursement of it’s annual scholarship programme.

The high school scholarships are valued at $1,700 but also come with a $300 book grant, while the junior college scholarships are valued at $3,000 for tuition only.

Lyndon Guiseppi, chairman of the Belize Bank explained that the bank has issued 120 scholarships to date. He noted that apart from the scholarships, the bank supports its students during the school year, sourcing tutors for difficult subjects or even helping with school uniforms for students in need.

“If you have a good education it gives you a chance to succeed in life. As a consequence of that, we feel that the best way to contribute to the development of the Belizean society is through the medium of education,” Guiseppi said.
