By BBN Staff: The Ministry of Agriculture in collaboration with the Belmopan Police Department is hosting their first regional summer camp for youths engaged in agriculture.
The camp will last for two weeks and will have participants from the Cayo and Belize Districts.
The Belize District participants will attend from July 23 to July 27 and the Cayo District group will attend from July 30 to August 3, 2018.
The objective of the summer camp is for youths to recognize agriculture as a vital career.
The camp also serves as a means of keeping youths engaged in positive activities and reducing incidences of crime committed by youths.
The participants will receive hands-on lessons in agriculture, horticulture, aquaculture, agro-processing, and livestock.
The last day of the camp will conclude with a “kid rodeo”, which will be held on August 4 at the National Agriculture and Trade Showgrounds in Belmopan.
A total of two hundred young people will participate in the summer camp.
