Two cousins dead in traffic accident up north

BBN Staff: Two cousins are dead after a fatal road traffic accident in the Orange Walk District.

They have been identified as Cairo Cob, 18, and Henry Cob, 24.

Hernan Cortez told police that shortly after midday yesterday he was traveling on the San Juan road when he saw a tractor coming in the opposite direction.

Seconds later he saw two men on a motorcycle overtake the tractor.

He reported that he tried to do everything to avoid the collision but the men collided into his vehicle.As a result, they were flung from the motorcycle and to the road where they both died.

While it is suspected that the men on the motorcycle may have been intoxicated, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Joseph Myvett, was unable to verify.

Instead, he indicated that blood samples would be taken from both deceased persons before that speculation could be confirmed.

In the meantime, Cortez has been served with a Notice of Intended Prosecution.
