PM returns on UDP’s 45th anniversary

Posted: Thursday, September 27, 2018. 2:24 pm CST.

Staff: Prime Minister Dean Barrow returned to Belize just after midday today, which also coincides with the 45th anniversary of the United Democratic Party (UDP), which the party is celebrating.

PM Barrow was welcomed at the airport with a warm greeting by party supporters who brought out a ‘Welcome Home Prime Minister’ sign. Barrow’s return follows recovery from back surgery, which he underwent in Cuba a couple weeks ago. The PM exited his vehicle and briefly spoke with and hugged his supporters while the UDP’s Facebook page broadcasted the moment live.

This morning in commemoration of the UDP’s 45th anniversary the party released a statement which extended greetings to UDP supporters at home and abroad. “Let us each take this opportunity, to renew our commitment to labour in love and unity as we continue moving our Party from strength to even greater strength for the benefit of Belizeans everywhere,” the statement said.

BBN also understands that the weekly Cabinet meeting, which normally takes place every Tuesday was re-scheduled and held today to coincide with the anniversary and facilitate a special dinner amongst Cabinet colleagues.
