Police: Love triangle leads to fatal chopping in Cristo Rey

y BBN Staff: On Friday, just before midnight, San Ignacio police visited Cristo Rey, Cayo at a farm where they observed the body of a man with multiple chop wounds to the body.

He was identified as Guatemalan national, Demas Gregorio Chuc.

According to police information, Chuc was involved in a dispute with another man who resides at the farm.

That man identified as Guatemalan national, Hilberto Itche, chopped him multiple times.

Assistant Superintendent of Police, Alejandro Cowo, revealed that the motive for the killing was a love triangle.

According to him, Chuc was accused of having an affair with Itche’s wife.

Police have recovered a machete but are yet to locate Itche who is believed to have fled to Guatemala.
