By BBN Staff: Belize City Councilor and the PUP’s Standard Bearer in Mesopotamia, Dr. Candice Pitts, launched a local sewing factory yesterday.
In an interview with Dr. Pitts today, she told BBN that the vision of the factory is to facilitate women entrepreneurship.
“It will also encourage Belizeans to produce more and import less,” she added.
Yesterday, the factory opened with more than 20 women at its headquarters situated in the Hotchandani Plaza at the corner of West Collet Canal and Cemetery Lane in Belize City.
According to Dr. Pitts, these women will undergo 3-4 weeks of training before they begin to produce for local and foreign markets.
