BREAKING: Body retrieved from river near low lying bridge in San Ignacio

By BBN Staff: The body of a man was retrieved from the river near the low lying bridge in San Ignacio a short while ago.

The body was retrieved by San Ignacio police around 3:00 this afternoon after they received reports of a body floating in the river.

The man has been identified as Ismael August, a welder who resides in San Antonio village, Cayo District.

Police are still on the scene but all indications are that August died from drowning.

A number of San Ignacio residents who were on the scene told BBN that August was seen walking around town earlier today.
