Meet Cosmetologist – Marisol Erazo from Mi Belle’s Institute

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez:  Belizean entrepreneur and cosmetologist Marisol Erazo has been running her own school and salon since 2013.

In 2012, Marisol lost her daughter 12 year old Jasmine Lowe after she was abducted and murdered. Marisol says Jasmine lives on in her heart and the hearts of all the people that knew her.

Mi Belle Institute and Salon located at the Plaza del Rio Mall in San Ignacio caters to young girls and women with goals of becoming cosmetologists.

Erazo told BBN that Mi Belle’s has seen the graduation of 3 cohorts of students.

Students that enroll at Mi Belle’s learn nail, hair and skin care.

Erazo says that her initial idea was to open a spa and hair salon since she had been teaching cosmetology for 5 years at another place.

But, some of her students approached her and encouraged her to open her own Institute.

Marisol says that like all other businesses, her salon is affected by COVID-19 since the Institute was closed in March.

Students that complete their course usually open their own businesses.

” Most of the students that graduate begin their own businesses and some of them work at salons,” Marisol said.

The Institute also engages in community service providing beauty sessions with nurses, police officers and other Government workers.

Erazo says that the Institute provides encouragement for students that complete their certification.

Mi Belle’s Institute and Salon continue to empower young girls and women to be entrepreneurs.

Mi Belle’s new location will be Maya Bella Downtown Hotel.
