Michael Singh: Technology is baseline of Belize’s COVID-19 flight

Posted: Thursday, June 25, 2020. 11:16 am CST.

By Aaron Humes: Director of Technology in the Prime Minister’s Office Michael Singh says technology will draw tourists closer to the Jewel.

The new Belize Health Travel App, says Singh, will include track and tracing from registration to departure to ensure their trip is as safe as possible.

The technology of geofencing, for example, will allow authorities to follow the ‘breadcrumbs’ of where tourists have been and where they will be going.

Later on, interfaces for Immigration and Customs will be added to limit face-to-face contact and be able to get through apart from health checks. Expecting that COVID-19 will be around for a while, Singh said it is important that we manage visitor flows with limited hassle.
