United States Embassy facilitates repatriation of 56 more US citizens

Posted: Friday, September 25, 2020. 7:02 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: The United States Embassy in Belize has facilitated the repatriation of 56 more American citizens to their home country.

The flight today was the final commercial repatriation flight as Belize prepares to re open the Philip Goldson international airport on October 1.

Since the airport closed on March 28 due to the global COVID19 pandemic, the embassy has worked closely with United Airlines and Government of Belize to repatriate 1,504 U.S. citizens back to the United States on 22 separate commercial repatriation flights.

“The safety of our citizens will always be our number one priority – and the global fight against COVID-19 is far from over – but today we want to take a moment to thank all those who have worked tirelessly with us over these past months to help us get Americans home,” the embassy stated.
