By BBN Staff: The Cayo district has had a rough time recently with the fallout from inclement weather. DJ Masta King is coming to the Sunday Vibes DJ Linkup today and he says he’s on a mission to help viewers relax in these difficult times.
Representing San Ignacio, Masta King has been a DJ for around eight years, and unlike many of his peers, he has largely carved out his legacy without any mentorship from a senior DJ.
Starting out playing private events and school functions, he moved onto the nightclub scene and is now the in-house DJ for CK’s Sports Bar in San Ignacio.
“What inspired me to become a DJ, was going to parties and seeing how hype the crowd would get. I thought ‘they wouldn’t be that hype if the DJ wasn’t there, and decided that I wanted to be one of those people to be the life of the party,” Masta King said.
While playing all genres of music is a must for the DJ business, Masta King finds his niche in mixing old school hits from the ’80s and ’90s to create a mood for his audience.
“For today’s linkup I’ll have a younger DJ with me, and he’ll be taking care of the news hits, I want to bring that old school feel for people to enjoy themselves and free up,” he added.
The linkup streams live on Breaking Belize News’ Facebook page at 4:00 p.m.
