By BBN Staff: The United States Centers for Disease Control (CDC) announced early this month that effective today, all international travelers entering the US must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test.
While the rest of the world had been enforcing measures against COVID-19, the latest guidance from the CDC might have a negative impact on tourist destinations in the Caribbean.
Some destinations including Belize mandate that travelers from North America entering the country must have a negative COVID-19 test with them or pay USD $50 and take the COVID-19 test upon arrival at the Philip Goldson International Airport.
However, when exiting Belize and traveling back home to the US, travelers will now need to take the test again and present their results before boarding.
Belize’s Tourism Ministry along with the Ministry of Health and Wellness has issued a list of public and private testing sites for travelers. While the costs vary for all private facilities, the Ministry is yet to release the costs for travelers looking to get tested at public facilities across the country.
