UEFA suspends game after Denmark’s Christian Eriksen collapses, given CPR on field during Euro 2020 match against Finland

Posted: Saturday, June 12, 2021. 1:03 pm CST.

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Denmark’s Christian Eriksen collapsed in the 42nd minute of play in the Euro 2020 match against Finland earlier today.

Eriksen was given CPR on the field and rushed to a hospital.

The match was halted just before half-time after the former Tottenham player went down off the ball, receiving CPR shortly afterwards.

The European Football Union (UEFA) decided to suspend and postpone the game.

“Following the medical emergency involving Denmark’s player Christian Eriksen, a crisis meeting has taken place with both teams and match officials and further information will be communicated at 19:45 CET,” said UEFA on twitter.

“The player has been transferred to the hospital and has been stabilised.”

When Eriksen fell the players realized he was in a bad state and called the medical team at the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The officials and the Finland team left the field while Eriksen’s teammates all stayed until he was stabilized and taken away.
