Boys shot in Unitedville, one suspect held

By Aaron Humes: A teenager and a boy were the unexpected targets of gun violence Monday night in an unexpected place.

Police have detained one person in connection with the shooting death of Lloyd Myvette, 18, and injury to Jamir Mckoy, nine, who is presently in emergency treatment.

The pair were standing in front of a vehicle at Myvette’s residence when they were shot at by a single armed man and injured respectively in the chest and abdomen. Myvette died at the Western Regional Hospital, Belmopan.

Police quickly detained one person and recovered a firearm believed to have been used in the incident. Their investigations continue.
