Police charge Belize City man in murder of Geoffrey Crawford

By Aaron Humes: Police have arrested and charged Maurice Usher Jr., 41-year-old, Belizean construction worker, of a Belize City address for the crime of Murder.

Usher is accused of being one of the two men who allegedly assaulted and gravely injured Geoffrey Crawford, 69-year-old, Belizean Retired Porter of Crooked Tree Village, Belize District.

An eyewitness reported seeing two men visit Crawford early in the morning of September 29, then seeing them leave with him in his red Nissan Pathfinder, with Crawford suffering apparent head injuries.

Subsequently, police conducted searches in the immediate area which led to the Pathfinder being found in Biscayne Village, two miles down the Philip Goldson Highway, in an area about 2 miles through a dirt road off the highway.

Crawford’s body was found about 50 feet away in a shallow grave.

Police investigations continue.
