Dangriga Mayor’s driver charged with stealing fuel from Town Council

By BBN Staff: Lloyd Morgan Arzu, the driver for the Mayor of Dangriga Town, was officially charged with theft on Monday, in connection with over 20 gallons of diesel fuel stolen from the Dangriga Town Council.

Police say that the Council’s Finance Officer made a report on Sunday, that Arzu had stolen just over 9 gallons of diesel. Police rounded him up and found the fuel, as well as an additional 15 gallons which he had also previously stolen.

Officers confiscated the 24 gallons of fuel and took him to the police station where he was officially charged. At $10.70 a gallon, the total value of the stolen fuel was $256.80

Police say that it is believed the Council had been doing its own investigation for some time, given the fact that the finance officer lodged the complaint on a Sunday.
