Cabinet: “Belize is moving in the right direction” on COVID-19

Posted: Wednesday, November 24, 2021. 5:56 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: Knock on wood and all those other superstitions, but according to the National Executive, the recent fall in key statistics on COVID-19 is “an indication that the nation is moving in the right direction.”

As of Tuesday when Cabinet met, 48.5 percent of Belizeans had received a first vaccine dose, and 44.7 percent are fully vaccinated – behind where the Government wanted to be at this stage but still among the best in the region.

Belize still has more than 369 thousand doses of COVID-19 vaccine available in various varieties. New regulations will maintain the status quo into the New Year.

Nonetheless, Cabinet maintains the push to get all Belizeans vaccinated and for those who already are to get their booster shots. The public is also reminded to limit physical distancing, wash hands regularly, and mask up in public.
