San Pedro Pirates draw 0-0 with champs Jewel Fury, take top spot in National Amateur Women’s League A

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The San Pedro Pirates drew 0-0 with champions Jewel Fury on Saturday at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan and took the top spot in National Amateur Women’s League A.

The match was rather even with San Pedro Pirates wanting to hurt the defending champions Jewel Fury who last week suffered a shocking 2-1 loss to the Sagitun GIRLZ. Fury have been severely depleted this season with quite a number of last season’s squad moving on, but on Saturday they managed to hold on the scoreless draw.

San Pedro now have four points from a win and a draw in the NAWL A, one more point than both Rumberas and the Sagitun GIRLZ.

Jewel Fury, in the meantime, have only one point from two games and are in fourth place ahead of the Verdes Rebels who rested this past weekend. Verdes don’t have points yet having lost the only game they’ve played so far.
