Seine Bight man charged with murder of Mexican national, pleads guilty to manslaughter

By BBN Staff: Seine Bight resident, 21-year-old Deandre Guiffaro, who was charged with the 2020 murder of Mexican national, Gabriel Guzman Cruz, has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge.

Guiffaro appeared in the Punta Gorda session of the Supreme Court yesterday before Justice Antionette Moore, where he pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Following his plea, Justice Moore set his hearing for mitigation plea and sentencing to May 3.

On December 7, 2020, Cruz arrived at his home in Seine Bight to find two burglars in his home, packing up things they were stealing.

Cruz got into a struggle with the men and was stabbed three times and chopped as many as 10 times with a machete. Guiffaro was arrested the following day.
