Sagitun GIRLZ stun Rumberas 3-0 in Southern rivals in first leg of NAWL A semifinals

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Sagitun GIRLZ put on a show and stunned their Southern neighbours and archrivals, the Rumberas, 3-0 in the first leg of the National Amateur Women’s League A semifinals at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium on Saturday.

After a heated first half, it was all Sagitun GIRLZ.

Sabrina Eiley found the net in the 57’. The Reah Burgess put them up 2-0 in the 78’. The icing on the cake came courtesy of Jurshia Zuniga in the 87’ 3-0.

“Leg 1 in the books!!!!” said the Sagitun GIRLZ who had said before the match that ‘two giants enter the stage, only one can make it out’.

But the Rumberas are undaunted. They are looking forward to revenge.

“We lost against our local sisters Sagitun in a very tight game, the first semifinal, but nothing is impossible, and the race is not over yet,” said Rumberas after the match.

“Come on, Rumberas. Come on, you’re incredible.”

During the regular season the games had been tighter. In Week 2, on Saturday, March 26, Rumberas blanked Sagitun GIRLZ 2-0 and in Week 7, on Saturday, May 21, they tied 1-1. So, expect a thriller when they meet again this coming Saturday.
