Scotiabank Concacaf League kicks off with 12 teams, including Belizean champs Verdes

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Scotiabank Concacaf League kicked off on Tuesday. Twelve teams, including Belizean champs Verdes, will be seeing action in the Preliminary Round.

National football champions Verdes FC play tonight in Belmopan against Salvadoran side Club Deportivo Platense at 8:00 pm at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan.

The regional championship started on Tuesday with Jamaican club Waterhouse playing to a 0-0 draw with Canadian club Pacific FC at Sabina Park Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica.

Salvadoran club Águila drew 1-1 with Costa Rica’s Liga Deportiva Alajuelense 1-1 at the Juan Francisco Barraza Stadium in San Miguel, El Salvador.

This evening, ahead of the Verdes’ game, Malacateco host Panamanian side Sporting SM at Estadio Pensativo at 6:00 pm in Antigua Guatemala.

Then, on Thursday, Vega Real host Guatemala’s Municipal at Estadio Cibao in Santiago de los Caballeros in the Dominican Republic at 6:00 pm while Real Estelí play against Honduras’ Real España at home in Managua, Nicaragua, at the Estadio Independencia at 8:00 pm.

The return matches play next week starting on Tuesday, August 2.
