Contractor accused of collecting over $20,000 for fence that was never built

Posted: Saturday, July 30, 2022. 9:03 am CST.

By Aaron Humes: Police are looking for a building contractor who collected monies from a retired American who wanted him to build a fence at her property, which he never did.

San Pedro Town resident Stephanie Hibdon told police that she contacted a contractor on March 18 of this year via phone and requested his assistance for some work to be done. He agreed and they continued to communicate.

Hibdon further explained that the contractor estimated the construction would cost $36,380.60. On April 16, she deposited into the contractor’s bank account monies totaling $20,890.60. But she says she hasn’t heard from the person since and the fence has not been built.

Police investigations continue.
