By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Policy Unit in the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise (MAFSE) on Tuesday held a mid-year Production Statistics & Food Availability stakeholders’ meeting.
Farmers, industry stakeholders, and Central Bank met to review production data from the agriculture sector.
“The Policy Unit normally holds a half-year production statistics update meeting with producers,” said Luis Pook, MAFSE Communications Director.
“In this case, they invited especially grain producers from the different Mennonite communities, Spanish Lookout, Shipyard, Indian Creek, Blue Creek, and Little Belize.”
Pook said the objective was to discuss with them what the outlook would be for the upcoming half of the year, from August until December.
“Would the projections that had been made at the beginning of the year be the same as was projected or would there be any changes,” said Pook.
Pook said production appears to be on target.
“For most of the commodities that were discussed the projection was pretty much the same as had been forecast at the beginning of the year.”
