By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Altitude fought hard against a very strong Wagiya and prevailed 2-1 at Carl Ramos Stadium in Dangriga on Sunday. The victory, coupled with Verdes scoreless draw with the San Pedro Pirates, propelled Altitude back to the top spot in the Premier League of Belize (PLB).
Colombian Andrés Orozco got things going when he found the back of the net for Altitude in the 16’.
The Mango Creek then powered their way forward looking for an insurance goal. They got it nine minutes later when Rene Leslie converted the 2-0 lead in the 25′. In the end, Leslie’s goal was the game-winner.
Wagiya rallied back and scored in the 75′ through the efforts of Warren Moss.
Altitude now have 12 points and lead the PLB one point ahead of previous leaders Verdes.
Wagiya are still in third place with nine points but have now been caught Progresso who also totalled nine points on Sunday.
