BDF soldier injured in tragic accident that claimed life of female BDF gives thanks after successful surgery

By Aaron Humes: Belize Defense Force Private Cory Martells, one of the soldiers injured in the fatal accident on the George Price Highway that claimed the life of Roxxannie Hill two weeks ago, has had successful surgery to repair his broken femur, a bone in one of his legs.

Today Private Martells, a musician in the Belize Defense Force Band, issued a message thanking all those that donated blood toward his much-needed surgery.

The soldier also says thanks to all the doctors, blood donors, family members, friends and community for their continued support.

The accident was caused by a bus driver’s maneuver trying to pass a private vehicle which caused it to run into the BDF van. The van was carrying soldiers returning from the funeral of late Private Micha Miguel on August 18.
