By Aaron Humes: The United Democratic Party (UDP) continues its slate of endorsement conventions for candidates that were not contested in their constituencies during the applications period earlier this year.
This past weekend, it endorsed educator Dr June Young as the standard bearer for Cayo South. Young told LOVE FM that there is a need to list and prioritize national concerns so that we can all live a better life.
In her tours of the villages that make up the constituency, education has emerged as a major concern according to Dr Young – that costs to attend should be easier on families so that children have a better chance of succeeding in life and contributing to the nation.
Second party deputy leader Beverly Williams said that for Dr Young to succeed, she needs the support of the village party delegates and supporters to overturn the reign of incumbent Julius Espat and to usher in a new era for the division under the UDP.
Young joins Party Leader Moses “Shyne” Barrow, Philip Willoughby, Ian Jones, Melvin Hewlett, and Tracey Taegar-Panton among the endorsed candidates for the UDP, with contested conventions expected to start after the Christmas holidays.
