By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Institute of Archaeology in the National Institute of Culture and History (IA/NICH) on Saturday announced that the Nohoch Che’en Caves Branch, Barton Creek, and the Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM) Reserves have been closed due to elevated river conditions at those locations.
All other archaeological reserves are open to visitors.
The IA/NICH said it will continue to monitor river conditions and provide necessary updates, and advised visitors to always exercise caution, be aware of weather conditions, and the possibility of flash floods.
