Marybeth Wade a no show in court for state of emergency violation; prosecution drops charge

Posted: Tuesday, January 10, 2023. 12:32 pm CST.

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Marybeth Wade, known for a viral video on social media and her connection to deceased street figure Winston James also known as Tanga, was cleared from a charge of violating the COVID-19 state of emergency regulations this week, despite not being in court.

Wade was charged for hosting a gathering of more than 10 people back in 2021. Wade had not been showing up to court for her scheduled dates and the court decided to hold an ex-parte trial in her absence. The court also issued a bench warrant for Perl Wade, who signed as the surety on Marybeth’s bail, to inquire why she was not coming to court.

In the end Chief Magistrate Sharon Fraser struck out the matter against Marybeth Wade for want of prosecution after the prosecution’s first witness failed to show up to court.

Wade was last known to be seeking asylum the United States and was regarded as a person of interest in Tanga’s murder investigation.
