UDP endorses Mark O’Brien for Cayo Central Standard Bearer

By Benjamin Flowers: The United Democratic Party (UDP) has endorsed Mark O’Brien as its standard bearer for the Cayo Central Constituency.

O’Brien’s endorsement convention was held this afternoon at the Santa Elena Sporting Complex, with Party Leader Moses “Shyne” Barrow, Party Chairman Michael Peyrefitte, and Belmopan Standard Bearer John Saldivar among those in attendance.

O’Brien, speaking at the convention, said that his endorsement marks a historic moment for the UDP and for Cayo Central.

“This is the first time that a son of the soil, who was born, raised, and lived in Santa Elena, will be representing Cayo Central for the United Democratic Party in the next general election,” O’Brien said.

He went on to pledge to his constituency to offer the best representation he can give and called upon them to give him their support when the time comes.

O’Brien’s endorsement follows the endorsement of Cayo North standard bearer Omar Figueroa which happened on Saturday, forming a part of a larger push by the UDP to refine its political machinery.
