Police stop man riding up-stop and find crack pipe on him

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belize City man who was caught by police riding his bicycle contrary to the flow of traffic was later charged after police found a crack pipe on him during a search.

Forty-two-year-old Moses Conorquie, told the Belize City Magistrate’s Court, that despite having a bicycle, he is homeless and sleeps on the street near the Albert Street branch of the Belize Bank.

He was charged for the traffic offense and for possession of utensils for the purpose of smoking drugs in connection with a 2 1/2-inch pipe adopted for smoking crack cocaine.

He was fined a total of $110 for both offenses and will spend three weeks in prison if he defaults on his payments.

Police say they stopped him on Euphrates Avenue on April 19 and conducted the search leading to the discovery of the pipe.
