Remains suspected to be Marlon Martinez found – accused killer charged

By Aaron Humes: Today, police confirmed that human remains have been found which they suspect are those of missing Hopkins fisherman Marlon Martinez.

Over the weekend, police charged Derek Gorosica, 34, of Dangriga with the murder of Martinez.
Martinez was reported missing on March 6 after being last seen on March 3.

ACP Hilberto Romero said the arrest came after a thorough police investigation and determination by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. The results of a post-mortem examination and other evidence led to the charge but further testing by DNA will be conducted.

The men knew each other but police did not indicate a motive for the killing.
