Belize welcomes Minister of Tourism of Saudi Arabia

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On May 30, 2023, Prime Minister John Briceno welcomed Ahmed bin Aqil al-Khateeb, Saudi Minister of Tourism and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD).

The Prime Minister says that a loan agreement was signed for US$45 million to construct a tertiary hospital in Belmopan.

“The new hospital will benefit approximately 200,000 citizens annually and will enhance the capacity of the local healthcare system by training health personnel from the University of Belize,” PM Briceno noted.

The Prime Minister says that this project contributes to the #PlanBelize commitment to ensure all citizens have access to affordable and quality healthcare and  facilities.
