The Ministry of Infrastructure Development (MIDH) advises motorists driving on the Philip Goldson Highway from Ladyville to Belize or vice versa to lookout for heavy long bridge beams. The MIDH said starting on Saturday, June 17 up to Thursday, June 22, they’ll be transporting long and heavy bridge beams in that section of the highway.

The MIDH said its construction contractor for the Haulover Bridge Replacement Project, M&M Engineering Consultants Ltd., will be moving seven extremely heavy, 140-foot-long bridge beams along the Philip Goldson Highway from Ladyville to the southern approach of the Haulover Bridge.

“There may be times when the Haulover Bridge is close to traffic to allow the beams to be aligned into position for placement, therefore delays can be expected,” the MIDH said in a press release issued on Tuesday.

The MIDH advises motorists to be aware and to plan their trips between Belize City and Ladyville accordingly advising drivers to be vigilant and exercise extreme caution when approaching the heavy equipment transporting these reinforced concrete beams.

“Drivers are asked to follow traffic warnings and the instructions of escorts at all times as these beams may take up the entire width of the highway,” said the MIDH.

The MIDH said they thank everyone “for their kind cooperation in respecting, abiding by these safety precautions and by exercising due care and attention when encountering these extraordinary loads on the highway”.
