Belize’s butterfly pupae now in Dubai Butterfly Garden

By Celeste Chang: Ya’axkin, being just one of Belize’s butterfly gardens in the beautiful district of Dangriga, has congratulations in order for transporting live pupae all the way to Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The Dubai Butterfly Garden, considered to be the “World’s Largest Covered Butterfly Garden” was opened in 2015 and now consists of ten custom-built domes. The garden is believed to have 15,000 butterflies and 50 different varieties.

This opportunity to display Belize’s very own live pupae in the Dubai Butterfly Garden exhibit not only shines a spotlight on the outstanding beauty of Belizean butterflies, but it also encourages the maintenance and the development of biodiversity in Belize.

It is exciting to see Belize receiving more and more recognition for its beauty and exotic features. Of course, this was not possible without the partnership of EXPORTBelize which is a unit of the Belize Trade and Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE). “We are delighted to witness the positive impact of our partnership and the mutual growth that it brings.
