Cabinet backs study of rehabilitation services for mental health, substance abuse

By Aaron Humes: In the area of health, Cabinet is turning the spotlight on a largely undiscussed pair of issues: mental health and wellness as well as substance abuse and drug addiction.

According to the Executive’s statement on its most recent meeting, Cabinet discussed the issue of the growing number of Belizeans who are suffering from these illnesses.

Cabinet called on the ministers responsible for Health and Wellness, Human Development and Home Affairs to oversee an intensive study to provide more rehabilitation services to address these issues.
