International News: Former Catholic priest admits to sexual misconduct with 11-year-old boy

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez:  Former Catholic priest Jamie Adolfo Gonzalez-Farias,68, has admitted that he engaged in acts of sexual misconduct with an 11-year-old child that he met through his pastoral duties.

According to the Associated Press, this week, Farias pled guilty to a federal charge that he transported a minor intending to engage in criminal sexual activity.

Reports show that the priest gave gifts to the child before taking him on a beach vacation to Florida in November 2020.

The priest then attempted to sexually assault the child and behaved in other sexually inappropriate ways and showed him pornography.

The child’s parents noticed his behavior and shared concerns with Catholic authorities about an inappropriate relationship.

The pastor was suspended and reported to a sheriff’s office.

He faces 10 years to life in prison.
