The Belize Investment Summit 2023 is officially open at San Pedro

By Celeste Chang: Prime Minister and Minister in charge of Investment, John Briceño, has welcomed worldwide investors to the second installment of the Belize Investment Summit. It is being hosted under the theme, “Belize: Endless Opportunities!”

In a statement issued on the Summit’s webpage, he stated, “As Prime Minister, I am pleased to emphasize that the Government of Belize has prioritized inclusive economic development, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals. Together with my Cabinet, we are proactively and continuously making advances in progressive and forward-thinking legal, policy, and procedural changes to create an investor-friendly environment that is conducive to doing business in Belize. This reflects the spirit of our PlanBelize mandate to promote robust economic growth for all, and we look forward to accelerating both national and international investment growth that supports an increase in trade and small business development in order to achieve this.”

He continued, “At this time of heightened consciousness on the matter of climate vulnerability, Belize is proud to be leading the way, and to be sharing our experience, infusing innovative approaches to managing public debt while balancing development and environmental preservation. Together, we can achieve mutually beneficial results. I, therefore, wholeheartedly welcome you to experience what makes us a uniquely attractive investment destination.”

Guest speaker and former President of Colombia, Ivan Duque Marquez, presented on the opening day on the Orange Economy, which focuses on arts, sports, tourism, entertainment and culture.. The itinerary for the next two days will feature various discussion panels, presentations, and a Business Exports Expo.
